Who qualifies for the No Child Without^® program?

No Child Without^® is offered to students (from age 4 to their 14th birthday) who are attending a publically funded school.

What is the cost to enroll in the No Child Without^® program?

There is no cost for the parent, school or school board to participate due to the funding of No Child Without^® by the Canadian MedicAlert Foundation, the Government of Canada and Lions Clubs across Canada.

How is the No Child Without^® program funded?

The No Child Without^® program is being funded by the Canadian MedicAlert Foundation with the assistance of the Government of Canada and Lions Clubs in communities throughout Canada.

What is the responsibility of the school to participate in the No Child Without^® program?

The school principal or a delegate from the school must participate in a 45 minute presentation to learn about the implementation process of the program. Schools are then required to distribute NCW brochures to each child in the school.

The presentation is arranged through the school district in conjunction with MedicAlert.

What happens when a student goes to another school not covered by MedicAlert?

The No Child Without^® program follows each student up to their 14^th birthday no matter where they should move to in Canada. It is the responsibility of the parent to contact MedicAlert and update their child’s file.

What happens when a student turns 14?

The parent will receive a letter from MedicAlert offering a continuance in MedicAlert for an annual fee up to the student’s 18^th birthday. The annual fee is discounted 40% until the students 18^th birthday then the student may consider other options to continue their membership.

The student just had their 14^th birthday. Does he/she qualify for the No Child Without^® program?

The No Child Without^® program is only offered to children age 4 up to their 14^th birthday. The StudentsFIRST program is offered to students up to their 18^th birthday. Visit www.medicalert.ca/studentsfirst to learn more about the program.

What do parents do if their child’s MedicAlert identification is lost or stolen?

The child will receive one free MedicAlert identifier when they register in the program. A replacement is available at the regular cost. The parent can contact MedicAlert and speak to a customer service representative for assistance.

I am the principal of a private/independent school. Can I enroll my school?

No Child Without^® is currently being offered only to publicly funded schools. The Canadian MedicAlert Foundation is a national charity and is only able to offer the program to the 12,000 publicly funded schools over the next 5 years. Once all publicly funded schools have been offered No Child Without^® then the program will be offered to private and independent schools, as well as home schooled children based on available funding.
